[expandsub1 title=”Frequently asked questions…” swaptitle=”Hide…”]IS THIS TRIP FOR YOU? – Maze Classic 5-Day
Do I need previous mountain bike experience?  Yes, the terrain in the Maze is rough in spots and the area is very remote. This trip is suitable for fit intermediate to advanced riders. We give a complete orientation prior to the start of the ride. All of our Guides are experienced riders and great instructors – they enjoy teaching MTB skills and techniques that will enhance your safety and improve your ability on the mountain bike.
How many miles per day?  Ride 12-37 miles of riding on all days except Day 2 , which is a hike 8-20 miles of overland travel by foot.  Extra riding and hiking is available from camp for those who wish to extend their day.
What kind of shape do I need to be in?  The more fit you are when you start the trip directly equates to the less fatigued you’ll be at the end.  Mountain biking can be as strenuous or mellow as you make it – it all comes down to being in good general health, being accustomed to regular exercise and controlling your pace.  If you can ride at a comfortable pace for 3-6 hours at home you will do fine on the trip. Riding a mountain bike is fun!  Everyone rides at their own pace, so there is plenty of time for photos and relaxation.
Will I notice the altitude?  Most of our tour is between 4000’-6800’ above sea level.  If you live near sea level you may feel a slight difference – everyone adjusts at different rates.  Help your body adapt to the altitude and dry air by drinking plenty of water and eating salty foods – it is dry here, so plan to drink lots of water, salt your food and snack frequently.
